FOUND OBJECTS REVEALED: ASSEMBLAGE AND FELT

Explore how narratives can be drawn out of the assemblage of found objects and the act of making felt around them. Learn many practical and ingenious methods of using hand-tools to join found objects together. This is a weekend of alchemy, of animating the inanimate and creating engaging sculptures by felting discarded things.

This workshop explores practical methods of making felt directly around various found objects (or parts there-of) that the students will bring to the workshop. Students will also learn some simple construction methods of joining their found objects together into sculptures using hand tools. The class will discuss how sculptural assemblage of found objects and the incorporation of felt around sections of them, can lead to unexpected narrative artworks.
